Lucy O'Hagan

Lucy is a GP/rata hauora, GP mentor and writer. She works for Ngāti Toa Rangatira at Oratoa Cannons Creek. 

Lucy teaches GP trainees and has written a column for NZ Doctor magazine for nearly a decade. She studied the social science of medicine, and kaitiakitanga with Te Wānanga O Aotearoa.

Her first book Everything but the Medicine (Massey University press, 2025) is a collection of stories and essays about the human complexities of being a GP, 

In 2024 Lucy recorded Waiting for Covid a collection of stories written during the pandemic. Documenting a piece of our history, she explores the emotional and medical roller coaster that was Covid. You can listen to it here.

Lucy is an enthusiastic performer and at the IOWŌ residency will create a short one-woman show for her book launch.
