Mark Amery is an arts journalist, producer and broadcaster.
He was visual art critic and an editor at The Post, co-visual arts editor at The Spinoff and has written for many national and international publications, including The Listener where he currently writes.
He is the former co-producer and presenter of RNZ's Culture 101 and former director of Playmarket. As a producer he founded public art programme Letting Space and its vacant space brokerage Urban Dream Brokerage and co-authored the Letting Space book Urgent Moments (Massey University Press 2023).
All this leads to his current writing project exploring the rise of the independent arts scene 1984-1999 and its impact on our culture.
