Life is about connection, and the way we connect is through STORYTELLING
Award-winning comedian, actor and writer Michèle A’Court is returning to Ōtaki this spring - and she wants to hear your stories!
This is your chance to learn how to share your story with confidence. No fancy jargon or public speaking experience needed.
Michèle will lead a free two-hour storytelling workshop to help aspiring storytellers shape and strengthen a story they'd love to tell out loud.
It might be a story for a family wedding or funeral, or even just a tale shared over the fence with the neighbour - we all have great stories to tell.
The workshop will be held on: Tuesday 8 September, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in Ōtaki.
It will cover:
Structuring a Yarn: how to shape your story so people stay hooked.
Finding the Laughs: how to spot the humour in everyday life events.
Taming the Butterflies: easy ways to handle nerves before you speak.
Owning the Room: simple tips for using a microphone and standing tall.
This session is limited to just 12 participants to ensure personalised, hands-on feedback.
To apply, please submit a 250-word outline of the story you'd like to tell by 5pm on 23 August.
The IOWŌ committee will let you know if you’re one of the lucky applicants and provide further details, by Wednesday 26 August.
Let's get used to talking to each other.
Come along, share a laugh, and find your voice!
